September 22, 2016 marks the first official day of fall, but I have been ready and waiting, chomping at the bit for the first cool breezes. Here in Florida, we won’t be experiencing such weather until October, oh, how I long for the cooler days.
In our home, I have already begun decorating for the fall season, changing summer white dishes to the golden bronze of fall, I’ve purchased a spice scented candle and begun scattering small decorative items that evoke, for me, the splendors of my favorite season.
Before I move to far ahead, as I pack my summer clothes and make up away, and do my major fall house cleaning, I wanted to take a moment to savor some of the times we enjoyed this summer.
We baked my favorite peach cobbler–it’s an amazing recipe with a shortbread like topping, and enjoyed some amazing strawberry shortcakes.
We set out exploring to nearby communities–we visited Safety Harbor, Dunedin and Tarpon Springs, enjoying delicious foods and incredible views. I love our Daycations–which we have posted over on our YouTube Channel sharingajourney.
Helping Brooke increase her skills toward independence, and choosing a college, we visited four and she visited one on her own. We still haven’t found the right fit, and are still working on the independence thing. I am growing more confident as she seems to be blossoming and making healthy choices for herself. Together we will be making some holiday videos this season, as it will be our last year before college.
From Boston Proper, I purchased a gorgeous boho inspired cold shoulder dress that I couldn’t wear enough–I love it so much! And I love all things swirly, so my beautiful blue floral maxi dress was another favorite. I was lucky at Target this year, I purchased two tank style maxi dresses that are a dream to wear–the black one I can enjoy into fall here in Florida.
…and there were the hats. Oh gosh, how I enjoyed wearing hats this year. I have always liked hats, and appreciate keeping my face out of the sun these days. I was lucky to find several on sale and wore them often.
On the makeup front, I enjoyed two eyeshadow palettes from Tarte, one filled with matte shadows, the other a mix of shimmers, stains and mattes. The biggest find was Becca’s Louminous Body Perfecting Mouse in the shade Palm Beach. Since I am not a fan of self tanners and rarely lay out in the sun, this was a Godsend. I plan to keep it out so I can wear it year around. People with uneven skin will enjoy this since it covers imperfections.
On Instagram, we posted highlights of the summer, while on YouTube, we just posted our first video of fall–a Shoe Haul–I hope you will join us, we have lots of fun planned for fall.
In any event, I am definitely looking forward to this fall, but am so very grateful for the summer and the magic it held.
With Love and Gratitude
