In March, I began researching blogger’s conferences and discovered BlogHer 2017 was being hosted in nearby Orlando. Even though I live two hours away, I figured that tickets, food and the room would be well into the $1,000’s so I put it on the back burner—with my daughter heading off to college, I have to carefully consider my finances these days…and then, out of he blue, I won a free ticket from Style Collective, a fashion blogger’s group I belong to (If you are interested in more information or joining, I placed an affiliate link button in the sidebar.) I have loved being in Style Collective—it has educational and networking components which I have made great use of since I joined in February…and then there were the free tickets to BlogHer 2017!!! The Style Collective hosts meet ups and goes to a number of blogging events as well as fashion week and swimsuit week in Miami, so it’s a good thing.
Each year, BlogHer hosts bloggers who create content around a huge array of subjects from advocacy to travel (I couldn’t think of a topic starting with z) so the place was packed with interesting and accomplished women from across the United States—I even met some women from Canada. There were so many informative breakout topics, I wished I could have been in two places at once for several of the sessions.
Even though this was to be an educational experience, I had to consider what I would wear and see if we could get some good shots of outfits for blog posts or Instagram, cause even when we are exercising our smarticles, we can still look cute, right?
I packed eight outfits-yes, eight—five day options plus one evening, one yoga/workout and a swimsuit and coverup, just in case. And, because I am planning a packing article, I special ordered some makeup and beauty items to boot! This was for a two day and one night stay. Yeah, that’s how I roll, and the best part was that Roger never complained about the suitcase, separate shoe bag with five pairs of shoes, and the two handbags I took. And, he never said a word about the fact that in spite of all the outfit planning, I forgot my tooth brush, something I have not done in 53 years of travel…ok maybe I forgot a toothbrush once before…
The conference was held at the Hilton Resort at Bonnet Creek, but we stayed next door at the Waldorf, where we had a lovely dinner and guess what? They had Key Lime pie, which was completely divine. In case you are wondering about the top three Key Lime pies right now, in first place is from Rusty Bellies in Tarpon Springs, second, the Waldorf and in third is The Paddlefish in Disney Springs. Stay tuned for updates and possibly a post about what sets each of the pies apart. (I know that’s why you read my blog.) But for now, I am all about the clothes, recuperating and implementing all the good stuff I learned at BlogHer. And, I am grateful to the Style Collective for the ticket, to Roger for being such a prince and to J.Jill for the navy coat dress featured in the BlogHer photograph.
