It’s 5:00 a.m. Monday morning as I write this post. I am usually an early riser, but not so much a last minute blogger, I confess, we took three days off from work. I don’t usually take much time off. With the blog, there’s always something to do, posts to write, photos to shoot, something to tinker with on the tech side and then there’s the whole social media thing, which can take hours if you let it. This weekend we binged out on museums, and I wore some of my favorite casual weekend outfits.
Enjoying the weekend sight seeing with Roger’s brother and his wife was a delightful reprieve and the weather couldn’t have been better. We started in Tampa with the Tampa Museum of art where we enjoyed contemporary architecture, three modern art exhibits (including one fashion) and then lunch alfresco at Sono the museum’s hip restaurant. Where we sat overlooking the Hillsborough River watching the water taxis and rowers making their way up and down the river. For Information on the Museum Click Here
Then we traveled back in time to the Victorian era, visiting the Henry B. Plant museum. His luxurious grand hotel has been lovingly restored on the campus of Tampa University. This visit featured all things related to the grand style of dining. We pursued old menus, elegant and puzzling serving utensils, and a few tips on good manners and decorum from the Victorians, along with the standard display. (They periodically change themes.) I usually make a point of visiting during the holidays when they decorate the place to the nines and serve hot chocolate and cookies on the veranda. On Saturday, we headed to St. Petersburg, where Roger and I have fallen in love with Beach Drive. It’s not uncommon for us to pop over for brunch or lunch and spend a few hours walking along the water, soaking in the architecture, slip into a museum, shop or just sit and people watch. On this trip, we visited the Chihuly museum For Information Click Here—I hadn’t seen it since it moved to its new location on Central Avenue, and the exhibit is as dazzling as ever. I love popping around to the Hot Shop to watch the glass blowers at work and of course there are the gift shops, which never disappoint. If you love art, St. Petersburg is a great place to see and purchase good art.
All this fun got me thinking of casual weekend looks, so I have put together a bunch of looks for site seeing you might enjoy. I love wearing dresses most of all, especially here in Florida. It is just now beginning to get cooler, and since it has been cooler, I have been choosing jeans more.
