Thinking a break from the cold? Perhaps you are contemplating a visit to Florida or an even more exotic locale. Here’s my wardrobe prescription for and easy warm weather getaway! I love a change of scenery from time to time! In January, Roger and I went to St. Petersburg, Florida and while it was just a quick getaway for us, it was so much fun, none the less. Weekend getaways like this always include a variety of activities so I like to have a few pant or shorts options available, but I also love skirts and dresses for shopping and sight seeing. Typically, I only wear pants in the winter, and rarely wear shorts, although the shorts I took along were very comfortable.
I naturally gravitate to a capsule type wardrobe for travel; its just easier for me to pull together simple pieces that can be mixed, matched and layered depending on the temperature, activity and my mood. In this case, I pulled a pair of jeans, white pants, shorts and a skirt, a swim suit, blouse and a few white tees. I typically bring a cross body and a larger bag that can be used poolside, a hat, scarf and belts so I can change up the look of the outfits. These are my essentials for an easy warm weather getaway.
The navy sleeveless blouse was my inspiration for this group of looks, and I was thrilled at how versatile it was. I loved that it looked great tucked in and over clothes. I even used it as a duster at one point. I’ve also been loving scarves lately; I double wrap them around my neck, which adds texture, interest and sophistication to what would be a very casual look. I like even my casual looks to have a polished look especially in the winter months when I can enjoy layering and wearing more accessories–it’s just too hot in the summer!
You may know from watching my videos, that I am all about creating several looks from one central piece. Finding different ways to wear pieces in my wardrobe helps me keep it fresh and interesting, especially when I really love a particular silhouette, like the sheath dress or pencil skirt, two favorites I turn to often in my wardrobe. In any event, having simple basics make for easy packing and lots of fun for your next warm weather getaway.
