Just a month ago, I was taking a few moments out to enjoy lunch at Disney Springs, a lovely surprise after a rather stressful week preparing for Brooke’s graduation and hosting her graduation dinner, then heading strait out to college orientation because she was slated to start college June 24th. One of the many things I am grateful for is Roger’s thoughtfulness in surprising me with such a nice lunch that day. As I have said before, often it is the little thoughtful things that soothe the soul and bring smiles and warm memories. Time goes by so fast, I like to savor the good things that come my way.
June has sped by quickly! As of today, July 1, Brooke has spent a full week at college and has really been enjoying it. As I wrote in My Almost Empty Nest (Read about it here) we are both celebrating new chapters. We seem to be more deeply connected as we embark on our new adventures while at the same time letting go of the day to day life we have shared for the past 18 years. I am very grateful for both of our smooth transitions.
In the beauty department, I have been enjoying a much lighter makeup look: It! Cosmetics CC+ Bronzer, Tarte Shape Tape concealer and my new Charlotte Tilbury glow palette which has all the colors I need to put an easy look together for hot summer’s days. I am totally in love with Fresh sugar lip balms, though I have to be careful not to leave them in the car. My lips tend to be dry, so I use it by itself, my favorite color is Honey, or over another lip color because I need the moisture so much. As for scent, I have been enjoying a coconut scented body lotion followed by Estée Lauder’s Bronze Goddess, which reminds me of when my father and I visited the islands. I have been loving scents much more now that at any other time of my life! So for June, I went bronze and light.
In haircare, I am back to my Bumble and Bumble finishing products and my Altherna Caviar shampoo and conditioner, after trying several new products I will be writing about in the future. Spoiler alert—none of them were as good as what I have been using—but if you have the secret for beautifying fine dry hair, be sure to let me know, ‘cause I want pretty hair too.
Going to the BlogHer 2017 this June, and visiting my daughter at college kind of finished off the month giving me an opportunity to wear a more business-y look, which I loved, the dress is new from J.Jill, the skirt is by Target’s Who What Wear line, as well as a strapless number I got from Fab’rik in South Tampa which I wore for another lovely dinner and walk around the Waldorf Astoria where we stayed. The breeze kicked up just as we headed outside for an evening stroll, which made it both comfortable and magical.
On the telly, we finished The Dr. Blake Mysteries, and caught the second part of 800 Words both of which are Australian productions and are really great—especially 800 Words—I love, love, love 800 Words. We watched a new production of Agatha Christies’ And Then There Were None, which was very good, oh, and a series called Delicious, a somewhat humorous, somewhat complicated drama about a chef who dies suddenly leaving great upheaval in the lives of those he left behind—it wouldn’t be a story if it weren’t complicated, would it?
I started and ended the month with Key Lime pies, which were both so delicious; just thinking of them makes me smile. Mostly, my heart is filled with joy and gratitude because of you, dear readers—getting to know some of you, reading your comments, making new friends, being inspired by so many awesome women doing such amazing things. So this month ends with my being grateful to you.
