Finding the best makeup for mature skin is no small feat. Once we hit our middle years, everything changes — skin tone, texture, moisture levels, and the way products sit on our face. I woke up one day and none of my old favorites worked anymore.

I went from oily to a “normal” skin type with an oily T-zone in summer. Where I once reached for mattifying products, I now prioritize moisture — and sometimes even look for a little glow.

It smooths large pores without caking, works beautifully with every foundation I’ve paired it with, and creates a perfected, soft-focus glow that’s hard to describe until you try it. I’ve had two of these palettes and they’re ideal for travel or for the makeup minimalist. You get the Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder, a bronzer, a blush, and eyeshadows — all in one compact. If you haven’t tried this cult moisturizer, it’s worth the investment. It pairs beautifully with all of the makeup products above and is a staple in my skincare routine.
Charlotte Tilbury Products I’d Approach with Caution
Not everything worked for my mature skin, and I want to be upfront about that.
Colour Chameleon Eyeshadow Pencils — I received one as a gift with purchase and found it didn’t blend well. The texture felt dried out and crumbly. That said, it may have been old stock. I prefer Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks for a similar effect.
Hollywood Flawless Filter — I’m glad I tried the sample size before committing. I tested it both under and over makeup and found it difficult to blend seamlessly into my skin. I use it occasionally, but it’s not a regular part of my routine.
Airbrush Flawless Foundation — This full-coverage foundation seems to be very much a love-it-or-hate-it product. I obtained a sample before purchasing, and it wasn’t a match for my textured, mature skin — it emphasized my pores and felt heavy. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve found that full-coverage formulas generally don’t perform as well on my skin.
