Mature Skin Makeup And Skincare Recommendations
I don’t think I’ve ever posted a “products I am loving now” type post, and if I have done seasonal makeup and skincare favorites, it was a very long time ago. However, over the past several months I have been trying new products and have found some great items.
As a younger woman, I suffered from acne and extremely oily skin. It took a while, but I learned how to manage those conditions—and actually got compliments on my skin— only to be baffled once again by my skin’s needs as a post-menopausal woman. Menopause opened a new can of worms, dryer skin, breakouts, and feeling I look a bit “dull”. A little makeup and good skin care continue to be a must.
No matter our age, we still want healthy skin, and sometimes that requires kissing a few frogs until we find products that work. Or, perhaps having some good products but finding a few that work better. Ah, the holy grail—we women are always in search, am I right?
I was curious about Victoria Beckham’s beauty since I couldn’t afford her clothing line, and I LOVE it! Read about the items I purchased here or watch the video here. It is just shy of a year, and her products are still top of my list.
Another challenge that beset me as a mature woman was very dark circles. After trying a number of concealers, I learned that I needed a color corrector in addition to concealer. After an extensive search, I came upon Bobbie Brown’s Skin Corrector sticks.
In search of a blush that gave a natural glow and stayed in place better than cream blushes I found RMS, and reach for it frequently.
Finally, we all long for a one-and-done eyeshadow. A shadow that is easy to apply and stays in place. Well, Armani did it.
- Victoria Beckham X Augustinus Bader Cell rejuvenating priming moisturizer. This is a lightweight moisturizer with a subtle golden glow. For people with flawless skin, this might be the only thing you need. For me, it’s the starting point. I wear this product under my foundation. Over the years I have been using this (I bought the first bottle in July of 2023, and replenished in December during the holiday sale) I have noticed that I need much less foundation, and my skin is supple and hydrated with a subtle healthy glow. While this product is expensive, I have found that it lasts about six months, and you only need a small amount to cover your face.
- Victoria Beckham Daily Facial Protocol: Since I loved the Rejuvenating Priming Moisturizer so much I purchased a second, I was curious how her new face-washing protocol would be. You remove your makeup with the facial oil and then wash with the cleanser. In 2016, when I first started blogging, I tried several oil-based makeup removers and found them seriously lacking. I love this combination, especially the cleanser. My skin feels clean and hydrated after use. It has quickly replaced my old standbys. You may feel a bit uncomfortable about the price, however, a single pump of each is sufficient to clean one’s face, neck, and decollete. If it is similar to the Cell rejuvenating moisturizer, it will last five or six months.
- Bobbi Brown Skin Corrector Stick. This creamy color corrector has really made a difference in my makeup routine. It is creamy and blends nicely, it layers well with concealer. I love that it comes in a stick which makes it easy to apply to the inner corners of my eyes.
- Blush is a must-have for me, and I have a few favorites, but lately, I have been reaching for RMS Beauty’s Re dimension Hydra Powder Blush in the color Pomegranate Fizz. It’s very natural with a slight sheen that catches the light beautifully. It blends easily into the skin whether you wear foundation or a light moisturizer.
- Armani Eye Tint is a beautiful one-and-done shadow that I have been loving since I tried it a year ago. I have four colors but I wear Camel and Cold Copper the most.
