Normally, as we head in to fall, we’d shop for our fall work wardrobe, perhaps an outfit to wear to a wedding or two and some casual looks for game day parties and fall festivals. We might even consider some outfits for Christmas or New Years. And yes, it’s July, but I find that by the end of July, everyone is ready for a little change, and we’re already planning for the months ahead.
AND, we’d be looking forward to shopping the big fall sales, especially the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale to save a few dollars on the season’s most coveted pieces and well as bagging piles of bargains. I must confess, I love fall, and shopping for the fall season.
With most of our plans being cancelled for the foreseeable future, and many of us continuing to work from home, one might wonder whether to spend much time or money shopping this year’s sales. Plus, we might be wondering what to add to our wardrobes, homes and makeup bags after spending so much time at home and looking toward the future, we are likely to see more of the same.
As you might imagine, I have been thinking a lot about this, my friends, and I’m going to take a slightly different tact when it comes to shopping this year. Here are my thoughts:
- I will be purchasing fewer items, but looking for high quality investment pieces that I can style many ways and that I can wear for seasons to come, rather than trend pieces. I’ve been doing this already, and have loved bringing you more styling ideas and ways to combine one or two new pieces to your wardrobe.
- I will be focusing on tops that look good on Zoom calls but can be worn with leggings or joggers so I can be comfortable, still look professional and feel good.
- I will definitely be investing in more lounge wear that is cozy but doesn’t look too much like PJ’s so I look elevated but feel comfortable since I spend the majority of my time at home right now.
- I will be looking for a few splurge pieces, like a special handbag, or fine jewelry. Something that will bring me a feeling of joy, but that I can still wear…to the grocery store…or dentist’s office.
When in comes to beauty, I will be looking for premium skin and hair care; I’ve been working on both here at the Casa. My hope is that the next time I see you, my skin and hair will look amazing from all the home beauty treatments I’ve been doing, since I haven’t been to my esthetician in many, many months. (I have had my hair done though)
I will be looking to make my home cozier, especially as we head into the cooler months. I love decorating for fall, and will be purchasing candles, table decor and plush throws to my home. We plan to do more cooking, so I am going to be evaluating my collection to see if new pots, knives or table ware are in order.
Not having heard much about the Nordstrom sale yet this season, I took a gander at the website and found the following:
This year, Nordstrom will be hosting their Anniversary sale a bit later than usual, cardmembers will receive early access August 13th and the sale itself will begin August 19-30th. One of the cool things this year is the ability to preview the sale items July 24th. This will replace the catalog.
Be sure to stop by Sharing A Journey on August 7th to see what I’m adding to my shopping cart.
Yes it is a different world and I too have been re-evaluating and looking forward. I need to up my home game in beauty as my beauty therapist is still not back at work. And I miss her…
[…] and I have come to see that it’s a good thing. Which brings me to this post I wrote about sale shopping. If you struggle with shopping sales or need some fresh strategic moves, it’s a great post to […]
