The best LED face masks are designed to promote collagen production, reduce wrinkles, improve dark spots, and even improve skin texture all in the comfort of your own home. The ease of use of LED masks is appealing, you can treat your entire face in as little as a 10-minute session.
You may be able to see impressive results, in just a few weeks of use. But before you rush out to buy one, there are some things you should know.
How do LED Facemasks Work?
LED facemasks emit light in different wavelengths depending on their color. LED face masks come in different colors the color of light treats various skin conditions.
It’s important to choose the right color light for your skin condition. Blue light is used to target acne-causing bacteria, while red light is used to stimulate collagen production, LED masks have become the latest trend in skincare, the ultimate solution to all skin problems.
New to the market, LED masks use light therapy to improve the skin’s appearance, increase blood circulation, and promote collagen production.
Different colors of light can solve different skin issues, such as acne, fine lines, uneven tone, etc. Green light is perfect for those who struggle with hyperpigmentation or age spots. The yellow light works best to improve rough skin texture and reduce the visibility of pores.
White light promotes collagen production and improves overall brightness, and near-infrared light is ideal for those who want to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Incorporating these colored lights into your skincare routine is an excellent, natural solution to your skin’s issues.
This in turn can help reduce fine lines and wrinkles, help improve sun damage, and even improve skin tone. With the consistent use of your LED light mask, you can improve a variety of different skin concerns. While some LED masks come with a variety of color options, most offer red, near-infrared, and blue.
Are LED Facemasks Safe?
LED facemasks have become a popular topic in the world of skincare, but have they been put to the test through clinical trials? The answer is yes. In fact, clinical trials have shown that LED facemasks can be a highly effective treatment for various skin concerns.
LED light therapy encourages collagen production at the cellular level, meaning that it can help address wrinkles, fine lines, and other signs of aging. What’s more, different colors of LED light can penetrate the skin at different depths, allowing for more targeted treatment.
The results of these clinical trials have been impressive, making LED facemasks a promising option for those looking to enhance their skincare routines.
While LED facemasks are generally considered safe, there are some precautions you should take. It’s important to follow the instructions carefully and not exceed the recommended usage time.
Some people may experience mild side effects such as temporary redness or dryness, but these should go away shortly after use. When shopping for red light therapy devices, be sure to make you choose an FDA-approved device.
What Should You Look for in an LED Facemask?
When purchasing an LED facemask, there are a few things you should keep in mind. First, consider the type of skin care concerns you are trying to address.
Most mature women choose red light and near-infrared light masks. However, some choose a mask that has multiple color options so you can customize your treatment to your specific skincare needs.
Be sure to choose a full-face mask in flexible silicone–preferably medical-grade silicone. You will want adjustable straps to ensure that the mask fits properly so that the LED device fits as close to the skin as possible.
Most masks fit all face shapes however if you have a larger face, you will want to look carefully at the head straps to ensure they are long enough.
You will also want to ensure the mask has a high number of LED lights, and for convenience, you will want one with a cordless design.
Most LED Masks come with a remote control, so it’s easy to turn on and off. You might also want to consider purchasing a neck attachment. I have one on my wish list, and my neck definitely needs a boost in the production of collagen.
How Often Should You Use an LED Facemask?
It’s recommended to use an LED facemask 2-3 times a week for best results. (Mine can be used daily.) Consistency is key when it comes to any skincare routine, so make sure to incorporate it into your weekly routine.
I like to use mine with a few beauty products, such as green tea or copper peptides. Other than applying one of the preceding serums and allowing it to penetrate my skin for twenty minutes, I make sure my skin is otherwise clean–applying moisturizer or using it on skin that isn’t clean is not advised. I follow up with a moisturizing sheet mask after my treatment with great results.
Can Anyone Use an LED Facemask?
LED facemasks are generally safe for most skin types. However, if you have a photosensitivity disorder or are taking medication that increases your sensitivity to light, it’s essential to speak with your doctor before using an LED facemask. Some people find the light to be too bright. Wearing a pair of goggles helps to protect your eyes.
A Review of the CurrentBody | Skin LED Light Therapy Mask
I have used two LED at-home devices. The one I am currently using (and love) is the Currentbody | Skin LED Light Therapy Mask. According to my research, it is one of the best LED Light therapy masks on the market.
This is because it offers both red and infrared light which was what I was looking for. It is also a great value. It came with a USB charging cord, a detachable, adjustable head strap, a storage bag, and comfort goggles. It is an FDA-cleared device.
The device uses Red (663nm) and Infrared (830nm) spectrums that can help to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. I simply tap the controller which is attached to the mask, it’s super simple as it only has one treatment mode and it turns off as soon as my treatment is finished.
I love it because it fits well and conforms to my face, unlike the one I used previously. It is also a non-invasive treatment. I can feel the difference in my skin, it is plumper and regular treatment gives me a healthy skin glow.
If I were shopping for my daughter, I would have chosen blue light therapy because the color of the light would offer better results for her acne-prone skin.
LED facemasks are a great addition to any skincare routine, but it’s important to research before purchasing one. Make sure to look for a mask that fits your specific skincare needs, follow the instructions carefully, and use it consistently for the best results. With a little patience and dedication, you’ll be on your way to brighter and more youthful-looking skin in no time.
